A private collective of heart and soul-centered women connecting through authentic stories, thoughtful questions & soulful conversations
About The Community
Athena Village is a thriving, private women-led community of heart-and soul-centered women–a collective of artists, authors, coaches, healers, makers, teachers, and business owners gathering to teach, to learn, and to share. We believe creative women crave connection and thrive when we share our experiences along the journey. If you want a quiet place from the endless chaos of Twitter, the perfection of Instagram, and the vitriol of Facebook, or want to gather with like-valued women away from the prying eyes of traditional social media platforms, we invite you to join the Athena Village community.
“We completely underestimate the power of human conversation to change the world,” – Dr. Margaret Wheatley
“We don’t want perfection. We want to learn from those slightly ahead of us on the journey. We want your journey. Not your expertise.” – Gina Bianchini, creator Mighty Networks
I read for growth, firmly believing that what you are today and what you will be in five years depends on two things: the people you meet and the books you read. — Twyla Tharp, The Creative Habit
“Where there is so much racket, there must be something out of kilter”
At Athena Village, we explore ways to use technology, social platforms and other systems that serves us but doesn’t overwhelm, manipulate, & definitely doesn’t track us! Engage at the level comfortable for you. Set notifications to your individual rhythms, so you’re contacted only as much–or as little–as you’d like.
Athena Village is a community designed by the community. We are a work in progress. We listen. We respond. We make and will continue to make mistakes. We’re committed to respecting our individual journeys, while learning and responding as a community collective. We believe learning and growing together is the way to create the world we want to live in..
“Women are natural leaders. The world needs our mojo, our “essential coolness,” our groove. It takes a village, so we’ve created one.”
“As an introvert I’m continually surprised and delighted by the power of community.”
Our Culture and Values
This is what we talk about, think about, are about.
Belonging + Culture
Connecting authentically with those around you. A willingness to bond with others, profoundly + productively, with trust and respect; to reach beyond status and self-interest in search of meaningful connection
Act + Generate
What action, however small, can you take? Generate, define, originate! Question assumptions. Speak the truth. Take action consistent with your values -even it’s not comfortable. Start your year with “I said I would + I did.”
Give First. Be Curious.
Curiosity, asking questions, and generosity is the core of relationship building in Athena Village. We believe women supporting women leads to personal, business, and leadership growth. See our “Give First” policy.
Gathering + Gratitude
The age-old practice of gathering to mark important times. Strengthening bonds of unity through creative expression, rituals, and traditions. Memorializing moments, triumphant or tragic. Share your successes! Appreciating what we have and those we cherish.
Nourish + Replenish
Let’s explore the different facets of nourishment: food, spirituality, mental and emotional health—what brings you alive? What not only sustains but strengthens you? This is about nourishing ourselves, our bodies, minds, and souls.
Invest + Endow
How do you invest your resources? This is about more than finances. It’s about intention. Invest originally meant “to clothe.” Investing can mean to endow with a power or quality. Your time and energy in a project. Your hopes or emotions in a person or a dream. Let’s go deep!
Advocacy + Devotion
What in your life receives your devotion? What deeply matters and invokes your passion? How can we use our devotion for advocacy? It’s about living audaciously. Acting with unswerving commitment tempered by respect and compassion. Generating a powerful force for good.
Create + Innovate
We are all creative! Creativity challenges the status quo. Is there a better way? How can this work? Why? Why not? If insanity is doing the same thing over & over, expecting different results, creativity is about doing things differently and discovering the possibility.
Collaborate + Cooperate
How can partnerships and collaboration enhance your life? We value cooperation. We seek global, inclusive perspectives. We strive to deepen understanding, awareness, and knowledge through diversity, while actively encouraging participation from those who are often overlooked.
Authenticity + Alignment
Be your whole self. Let’s get grounded. Exploring core values and beliefs and living in alignment with them. Embodying our uniqueness. Embracing lived experience. Discovering purpose. Being authentic is the single most important quality of leading a fulfilled life.
Play + Retreat
“Frivolum Est Bonus” (Latin for “Silly is Good!”) Sometime after childhood, we stopped playing. Carve out time for fun, rejuvenating play like we did as kids. “If it would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree, I won’t grow up! Not Me!” –Peter Pan
Wisdom + Discernment
Always Learning: Ancora Imparo. Employ “beginner’s mind,” regardless of your level of achievement. Understanding built on experience, intuition, and self-directed learning. The art of listening and the ability to pick and choose what is right for you. Setting boundaries.
Amplify + Uplift
In 2020, the Village celebrated 100 Years ago women “took” the right to vote. The 1st —& still the only —right that the U.S. Constitution specifically affirms and applies equally to women & men. “We shall not be safe until the principle of equal rights is written into the framework of our government.” –Alice Paul.

Why “Athena” Village?
When conceiving a community of like-valued souls, founder Kelly Pratt was inspired in part by two books:
The Athena Doctrine: How Women (and the Men Who Think Like Them) Will Rule the Future by Michael D’Antonio and John Gerzema showed us that “two thirds [of the 64,000 people in 13 countries believe] the world would be a better place if men thought more like women.”
In her book, Becoming Athena, Martha Mertz describes women’s natural leadership as:
“…not codified in business schools or mandated in corporate manuals; [it is] drawn, unselfconsciously, from centuries-old practices learned at our grandmother’s knees…so second nature that…the principles went with them, shaping and guiding all we do.”
