Welcome to Athena Village

We are all multidimensional women who wear many hats 🎩

Here we focus unapologetically on

WHO YOU ARE before we ask  WHAT YOU DO.

Have you found yourself thinking,

“I really need a great conversation over a

good cup of coffee (or tea!).

I created Athena Village with you – and me – in mind.

Many of us have our own businesses, some are working for others, some are retired, and some are just starting out.

What we all have in common is that we are all multidimensional women who wear many hats in our daily lives! And more and more of us are working from home. We love the freedom that offers, but it also has its drawbacks.

In the summer of 2019, I had a BFO* (blinding flash of the obvious!) which led me to reimagine my online community completely. My realization was that I wanted to serve more than just my clients; I wanted to was to open up to serve a much broader group of women. They say “it takes a village” so that’s what I’ve created: an online Village – a destination for multidimensional women – and all the hats that they come with!

A place where women can hang out with others who, like me, live with purpose and crave community but we do not want:

  • to be bombarded with sales pitches
  • or be “tracked” and then marketed to,
  • or surrounded with negativity.

A private place where we feel, well, safe to be ourselves.

A place that welcomed each of our many dimensions.  Welcomed us as whole women who fulfill many roles, and wear many hats!  A values-driven space where we could be truly authentic.

Where we could have conversations, be curious, make discoveries, and create connections.

The result of that BFO is Athena Village.  I invite you to visit the Village.

The Village is where I explore can my creativity or share my love of systems and processes.  The bonus is that my ideal clients are in the Village too!

Women wear many hats!

Often more than one at a time. And that gets exhausting.

If you’re tired of being defined by what you DO instead of WHO you are, this is the right place.

In Athena Village, you can connect with others, learn about new things, find unique collaboration opportunities, and find a bit of breathing space, with none of the “shenanigans” of those other places”.

Wearing any hat you feel like that day.

Is one of your hats that of a business owner or professional?

The Village is perfect you. It’s an opportunity to invite your people –  clients and followers – away from social media chaos to a quieter more intimate private space where we can actually interact with each other.

We’ve all heard that a rising tide floats all boats. . . and I don’t know about you, but I much prefer swimming in a blue ocean rather than with the sharks in a red ocean.

The attitude of #CommunityOverCompetion sets the tone. I know that my people will benefit from knowing you and the experience you bring to the Village.

I’m confident that you will feel the same.

This is another way of serving our people. In other words we are introducing our audiences to each other without anyone being “sold to.”

I’m just guessing here, but I’ll bet you’d love a life where you…

  • . . . get to hang out with amazing people,

  • . . . get to do work you love,

  • . . . are being paid appropriately,

  • . . . and have enough time for your other passions

And know that you’ve made a difference.

If that describes you, you have a lot in common with the members of Athena Village.

We are dedicated to working together to make that happen.

1. Sharing Our Wisdom Through Experience.

Life is a journey, and we’re all at different ages and stages. We share our knowledge and learn from each other, regardless of age. Old dogs teach young dogs, and young dogs teach old dogs. We’re all learning new tricks! Circular Mentorship is one of our favorite concepts. We don’t believe in “my way is the only way” experts. But we are all willing to share what we have learned on our journey.

Mentoring isn’t a one-way street. Circular Mentorship is one of our favorite things! Old dogs teaching young dogs. Young dogs teaching old dogs. We’re all learning all the tricks!

2. Walking the talk of #CommunityOverCompetition

Many of our members are professionals who value working together in a collaborative space. This concept is at the core of our community: the idea of collaborative competition or sharing audiences. This is how we serve our clients and each other. Here, you’ll find fun and unconventional collaborations.

3. Encouraging Curiosity, Exploration + Discovery.

Curiosity, exploration, and discovery can all spark creative and innovative thinking. This can open up amazing collaboration opportunities and create wonderful connections. These connections can then provide great opportunities for our community members.

4. Striving for Justice, Equity, Diversity + Inclusion.

We strive to create a space that reflects the world we want to live in. This is an ongoing practice, not just a statement. We’re always looking for members who bring something new to our culture, not just those who fit in. We value a beginner’s mindset, understanding that there’s always more to learn. Our community is built by and for the community, and we welcome input from all members.

5. Taking Responsibility for Our Part in Changing the Marketplace.

We prioritize people over sales. This entails communicating inclusively, honestly, and concisely with our members and the public. Additionally, we have to unlearn many ingrained practices. To that end, we have taken the Ethical Move Pledge. If you catch us not slipping into old habits, please let us know. Learn more at The Ethical Move.org/pledge.

6. Being a Business That Is a Force for Good.

Athena Village, a project of Second Star LLC, was created with the aim of benefiting its owners, members, and the world. We strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive, achieving both social impact and profits.
